Emad Banat: Building Industry Ecosystems for Saudi Arabia’s Next Era of Digital Growth

Engineering, Construction & Operations | Media | Travel
In an era where transformation increasingly depends on collaboration, the ability to connect technology, industry expertise, customers and partners has become as important as the technology itself.
For Emad Banat, Territory Ecosystems Manager for Saudi Arabia at SAP, this principle has shaped a career spanning enterprise technology, cloud solutions, strategic alliances, business development, enterprise sales and ecosystem growth.
With nearly 14 years at SAP, Emad has built his career around a consistent objective: creating connections that turn technology opportunities into sustainable business value. His journey has taken him through partner management, cloud solution sales, strategic account engagement and, today, ecosystem leadership in Saudi Arabia.
Since July 2026, Emad has served as Territory Ecosystems Manager for Saudi Arabia, with an industry focus across Engineering, Construction & Operations (EC&O), Media and Travel.
In this role, he focuses on strengthening ecosystem relationships, developing strategic partnerships, expanding partner capabilities, identifying new opportunities and connecting SAP’s technology portfolio with the evolving priorities of organizations across these industries.
His current position represents the culmination of years of experience across partner development, enterprise sales, cloud adoption and strategic business engagement.
“My focus is on building industry-relevant ecosystems—not simply expanding the number of partners. The goal is to bring together the right capabilities, industry expertise and technology to address the specific transformation priorities of customers across Saudi Arabia.”
A Career Built Around Technology, Ecosystems and Growth
Emad’s SAP journey began in November 2012, marking the start of a long chapter within one of the world’s leading enterprise technology companies.
Over the years, he has progressed through increasingly strategic responsibilities spanning partner management, cloud solutions, enterprise sales and ecosystem development.
That progression has given him a multidimensional perspective on how transformation happens.
Technology providers bring platforms and innovation. Partners contribute implementation capabilities, industry knowledge and specialized expertise. Customers bring business priorities, operational challenges and ambitions for growth.
The role of an effective ecosystem is to connect those capabilities around shared outcomes.
For Emad, this means moving beyond transactional partner relationships toward ecosystems built around joint value creation, industry specialization, innovation and long-term growth.
“The strongest ecosystems are built around shared value. When customers, partners and technology providers align around a common business outcome, technology becomes an enabler of transformation rather than simply a solution.”
Building Industry-Relevant Ecosystems Across Saudi Arabia
One of the defining elements of Emad’s current role is an increased focus on industry specialization.
Rather than approaching ecosystem development through a single generic model, his focus is on understanding the characteristics, transformation priorities and opportunities within the industries he supports.
Today, that focus spans three important areas:
Engineering, Construction & Operations | Media | Travel
Each has different business dynamics, but all are experiencing significant changes driven by cloud technologies, data, automation, artificial intelligence, changing customer expectations and new digital business models.
For ecosystem leaders, this creates an opportunity to bring together SAP, partners and industry expertise around specific customer priorities.
Engineering, Construction & Operations: Supporting a Transforming Kingdom
Engineering, Construction & Operations (EC&O) represents an important focus within Emad’s ecosystem responsibilities.
Across Saudi Arabia, organizations involved in engineering, construction and operations are participating in an environment of significant development and transformation.
For technology ecosystems, the opportunity extends beyond implementing individual systems. It is about helping organizations connect business processes, improve visibility, use data more effectively and create increasingly integrated operations.
Partners are particularly important in this environment because successful transformation requires a combination of technology capabilities, implementation expertise, industry knowledge and local market understanding.
Emad’s focus is therefore on helping develop an ecosystem capable of addressing industry-specific requirements and bringing together complementary capabilities around customer outcomes.
“Industry knowledge makes the ecosystem more relevant. In sectors such as engineering, construction and operations, customers need partners who understand not only technology, but also the realities of their business and operating environment.”
This approach represents a natural evolution of Emad’s previous partner and enterprise sales experience: from developing broad partner capabilities to creating increasingly specialized, industry-oriented ecosystems.

Media and Travel: Creating New Digital Experiences
Alongside EC&O, Emad’s ecosystem focus extends across the Media and Travel industries.
Both are increasingly influenced by digital customer experiences, data-driven decision-making, cloud technologies, automation and rapidly evolving consumer expectations.
Media organizations are operating in an environment where digital channels, changing consumption patterns and new technologies continue to reshape how content and experiences are created and delivered.
Travel organizations face similarly evolving expectations, with customers increasingly expecting connected, personalized and seamless digital experiences.
For Emad, the ecosystem opportunity lies in connecting technology capabilities with partners that bring the specialized knowledge required to translate those capabilities into industry outcomes.
Across EC&O, Media and Travel, the underlying philosophy remains consistent:
Build the right ecosystem around the industry and the customer—not the other way around.
Driving Cloud and Enterprise Technology Adoption
Cloud transformation has been one of the defining themes of Emad’s SAP career.
Between June 2019 and June 2021, he served as an SAP SuccessFactors Solutions Specialist, focusing on cloud solution sales across Saudi Arabia.
His responsibilities included both direct and indirect sales, with engagements across public services, healthcare, financial services and banking, retail and wholesale, life sciences and higher education.
The role required much more than presenting technology. It involved understanding organizational challenges, identifying potential use cases, generating demand, engaging decision-makers and leveraging SAP’s partner ecosystem to develop meaningful opportunities.
His ability to operate across both direct and partner-led sales channels allowed him to understand the different roles that customers, technology providers and partners play in successful transformation.
His experience with SAP SuccessFactors also placed him at the intersection of technology and human capital management, providing exposure to areas including workforce planning, employee engagement, talent development and organizational adaptability.
“Cloud transformation is ultimately business transformation. The conversation has to begin with what the organization wants to achieve—not simply with the technology it wants to deploy.”
Building SAP’s Partner Ecosystem in Saudi Arabia
Long before ecosystem-led growth became one of the technology industry’s defining strategies, partnerships were already central to Emad’s career.
From November 2012 to June 2019, he served as Partner Account Manager at SAP, spending more than six years developing the company’s partner ecosystem in Saudi Arabia.
His responsibilities extended across the partner lifecycle—from identifying and developing suitable partners to generating business opportunities, supporting customer engagements and aligning partner capabilities with SAP’s strategic direction.
During this period, Emad worked with a broad network of technology and business partners, including Advanced Electronics Company, Technology Control Company, Saudi Business Machines, Al-Bilad Arabia, Altivate, Tech Mahindra and EJADA.
A particularly important aspect of his role involved helping partners navigate the industry’s transition toward cloud technologies.
As customer expectations evolved, partners also needed to rethink their strategies, capabilities and offerings. Emad worked with them to align their businesses with SAP’s cloud direction and emerging market opportunities.
His performance earned recognition from SAP’s Global Partner Operations and Ecosystems organization in MENA for strong revenue generation and business development, and he was acknowledged as a leading Partner Account Manager within the region.
“Successful partnerships cannot be transactional. Sustainable ecosystems are built on trust, complementary strengths and a clear understanding of how every participant creates value.”

Enterprise Sales and Strategic Customer Engagement
Alongside his ecosystem experience, Emad has developed extensive experience in enterprise sales and account management.
His progression into a Senior Account Executive role at SAP strengthened his ability to engage directly with customers and navigate the complexities surrounding major enterprise technology investments.
Enterprise transformation typically involves multiple stakeholders—from business executives and technology leaders to finance, procurement and operational teams.
Working across these environments gave Emad a deeper appreciation of how strategic technology decisions are made and how different stakeholders define value.
His approach has consistently centered on understanding the business challenge first and then connecting that challenge with the appropriate technology and ecosystem capabilities.
That customer perspective has become increasingly important in his current ecosystem role. Partners are not simply another sales channel. They are part of the mechanism through which SAP can bring specialized capabilities, innovation and industry expertise closer to customers.
Experience Beyond SAP
Emad’s understanding of channel and ecosystem development began before joining SAP.
From June 2009 to April 2012, he worked with Microsoft in Riyadh, holding roles in Channel Development and OEM Channel Marketing.
As a Channel Development Manager, Emad worked with channel partners to strengthen business relationships and develop opportunities within Microsoft’s partner network.
The experience provided an early foundation in indirect sales, partner enablement, channel strategy and collaborative growth.
He also gained experience from the customer side of transformation while serving as PMO Manager at Abdullatif Alissa Group Holding Co.
During this period, he was involved in establishing policies and procedures while managing strategic digital transformation initiatives.
The role provided a different perspective: understanding how transformation is planned, governed, implemented and aligned with organizational objectives from inside the organization itself.

Passion for Emerging Technologies
A defining element of Emad’s professional outlook is his enthusiasm for emerging technologies and their potential impact on businesses and society.
But his interest in technology is not centered on technology for its own sake.
For Emad, its value lies in how organizations use innovation to solve business problems, improve experiences, increase agility and prepare for the future.
As artificial intelligence, automation, cloud technologies and data increasingly influence enterprise strategy, he believes the ecosystem will play an important role in turning emerging technologies into practical business value.
“Innovation becomes meaningful when it solves a real problem, improves an experience or creates an opportunity that did not exist before.”
Contributing to Saudi Arabia’s Digital Transformation
Emad’s professional career has closely followed the transformation of Saudi Arabia’s technology landscape.
Having spent much of his career working in the Kingdom, he has developed a strong understanding of the local enterprise market, its business environment and the importance of strategic partnerships in supporting technology adoption.
His experience has exposed him to organizations across a wide range of industries, while his current responsibilities bring a sharper focus on Engineering, Construction & Operations, Media and Travel.
This combination of broad market experience and industry specialization shapes his view of what the next phase of ecosystem development should look like.
The future, in his view, is not simply about having more partners.
It is about developing the right partners with the right capabilities for the right industries.
That means strengthening industry knowledge, encouraging innovation, creating complementary capabilities and bringing together local and global expertise around customer priorities.
For Saudi Arabia’s rapidly evolving digital economy, such ecosystems can become important accelerators—helping connect global innovation with local expertise and the transformation ambitions of organizations across the Kingdom.

Leadership Through Relationships and Collaboration
At the heart of Emad’s professional approach is his ability to build and maintain relationships.
Whether working with enterprise customers, technology partners, internal teams or strategic stakeholders, he places significant importance on collaboration and long-term engagement.
His experience managing strategic partners has reinforced several principles that continue to shape his approach:
Trust | Communication | Shared Objectives | Complementary Strengths | Mutual Value Creation
These principles apply equally to enterprise sales and ecosystem development.
The most successful relationships are those in which each participant understands what they contribute, what they receive and—most importantly—what they can achieve together.
Bridging Technology and Commercial Strategy
Emad holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Yarmouk University.
His technical education provided a foundation for understanding enterprise technologies and communicating with technical stakeholders, while his career subsequently expanded across sales, cloud solutions, business development, alliances and ecosystem management.
The combination allows him to operate at the intersection of two increasingly interconnected worlds:
Technology Strategy and Business Strategy
In modern enterprise transformation, the distinction between the two continues to narrow. Technology decisions increasingly influence business models, customer experiences, operational performance and long-term competitiveness.
For ecosystem leaders, understanding both perspectives is therefore essential.

A Balanced Perspective Beyond Professional Life
While technology and business development are central to Emad’s professional life, he also places considerable value on family, personal development and maintaining balance.
Outside work, he enjoys chess and strategic mind games, reflecting his appreciation for analytical thinking, strategy and problem-solving.
He also enjoys spending time outdoors and traveling—experiences that provide exposure to different environments, cultures and perspectives.
Curiosity, strategic thinking and continuous learning therefore extend beyond his professional career.
Looking Ahead: From Partnerships to Industry Ecosystems
With a career spanning Microsoft, corporate transformation and nearly fourteen years at SAP, Emad Banat’s professional journey reflects many of the changes that have reshaped the enterprise technology industry.
From channel development to strategic partnerships. From enterprise software to cloud transformation. From direct and indirect sales to ecosystem-led growth. And now, from broad ecosystem development toward increasingly industry-focused ecosystems.
As Territory Ecosystems Manager for Saudi Arabia, Emad’s focus across Engineering, Construction & Operations, Media and Travel represents the next chapter of that journey.
The objective extends beyond creating individual opportunities.
It is about building an environment where partners can grow, customers can transform, innovation can scale and technology can be connected to tangible industry outcomes.
As Saudi Arabia continues its economic and digital transformation, Emad sees an important opportunity for ecosystems to connect global technology capabilities with local expertise, specialized industry knowledge and the ambitions of organizations across the Kingdom.
His professional journey has consistently been built around the same fundamentals—growth, innovation, relationships and transformation.
“Technology creates possibilities.
Partnerships turn possibilities into opportunities.
Industry-focused ecosystems turn opportunities into sustainable growth.”
