Meet Priya Madhavan – Associate Professor | Director of DHMA Impact Lab

With 20 years of experience in teaching, research, and academic leadership across Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, Priya Madhavan is an accomplished academic and scientist dedicated to advancing healthcare education, medical research, and digital learning. As an Associate Professor at Taylor’s University and Director of the Digital Health and Medical Advancement Impact Lab, she combines scientific expertise with technology-driven education and interdisciplinary innovation. Her work spans microbiology, infectious diseases, digital health, nanomedicine, and research, with a strong focus on creating meaningful impact for both the academic community and society.

Throughout her career, Priya has developed technology-enabled e-learning modules for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, helping transform complex scientific subjects into accessible and engaging learning experiences. Her research has evolved from herbal formulations toward nanomedicine applications targeting microorganisms that are difficult to treat, as well as research exploring approaches related to dementia prevention. Her scientific contributions have attracted research grants totaling approximately RM 2.2 million, equivalent to roughly USD 500,000, reflecting the strength and relevance of her research programs. Alongside her research, she has supervised numerous PhD and Master's students, supporting the development of the next generation of scientists and healthcare professionals.

Known for her commitment to innovation, education, and community impact, Priya continues to bridge scientific research with emerging technologies and practical healthcare solutions. Through her leadership at the Digital Health and Medical Advancement Impact Lab and her involvement in the Transformation Innovative Squad for Impact Lab 2.0, she contributes to initiatives that explore new approaches to digital health and medical advancement. She holds a PhD in Medical Microbiology and Bacteriology from Universiti Putra Malaysia, complemented by a BSc (Hons) and MSc in Microbiology and Biotechnology from Universiti Sains Malaysia. Her multidisciplinary journey reflects a commitment to continuous learning, scientific discovery, and using knowledge and technology to serve the wider community.
